The scene after the horse head incident is normally considered chronologically after it but it's actually it's chronologically before.
The scene after is actually one larger scene, the first half being deleted. The first part of the scene is where they start talking about what to do about Jack Woltz. The GF says he's going to send Luca out. Then they cut to Woltz bedroom and the horsehead.
Then the scene we all know with the GF, Tom and Sonny talking about Sollozzo and drugs. But that's actually a bookend.
