Mere horse race element of an election. The person trailing showed a glimmer of life and people like the competition. It was very fleeting and had little effect overall. I also think current debate rules don't favor Warren. She needs time to make her points. These debates insist on brief answers. I think that's a huge problem with the debate formats, but it is what it is.
