In response to "how frustrating. :/ maybe their food costs went up in the interim? -- nm" by b.

nope - I suspect with all of them it was just selective reading - more details inside (overshare)

this particular place is located right between our two ski resorts - and consequently in March when this will happen - they really have high traffic on dining as long as the skiing is good

translation - a "restaurant week" enticement isn't really "needed" by them at this time of year

So - I get it completely - and next year we may raise it where it fits better for them - but I can't go back and change it for "just them" or be wishy washy and let all the other's know that I'm changing it because this one had to have it ... whereas the others agreed to play along. That would give me ZERO credibility for anything I try to say is solid in the future and I just can't have it. (this is a new food event for me - I already run another one that involves all these same players)

I actually called my "mentor" (who handled the other restaurant event for over 25 years) - and shared with her what happened and how I handled it - she said it was exactly correct - so I'm not questioning at all my decision. It just SUX that it was that particular place ... and I think their insurance dates are February - so my timing to contact them and request it was pretty much now.

I may still do it - and just see if there are any hard feelings ... by doing so - it may actually work in my favor where he'd agree to do it just to show he is NOT mad about me having to stand my ground. His father and my father were VERY close ... have known him for a long time and the restaurant is awesome.

This will be interesting for sure.
