They will? Honest question as well I guess being contrarian. Is the requirement for the expensive GPS equipped units?

Without GPS data, how does a fitbit know if one is out?
I know that on days I'm at work, I still log a measurable amount of steps without actually going anywhere and definitely not outside.
I also know that my phone will totally rat me out as to where I've taken it but that's a separate issue.
