Sean Connery is the only way in because he is the one that escaped. Then one of the key elements is the fact that he memorized the pattern of the fire. Then when they get there, he rolls through the fire backwards compared to when he escaped and then opens a door, and says the catchphrase 'Welcome to the Rock."

When he was escaping, why roll through the fire? Just open the door and walk out. He wasn't breaking in to Alcatraz, he was breaking out.

Stupid.
