Even if he doesn't win, he's doing something pretty amazing: he's allowing liberals to stand up and be uber-liberal. In public.

Liberal has been a slur for so long, and I think a lot of liberals cowered and hid from the term out of fear of the damage it would do. Bernie is unapologetically out there saying these things, and he's getting young people excited. He is, potentially, setting tone for future elections, to make these crazy liberal idea more generally palatable.
