unhappy that their own party isn't liberal/conservative enough (depending on which side), but would never vote for the other side. If Cruz drops out he wants to protect his bona fides with that group (because he sure as hell isn't going to be supported by the establishment). So he could very possibly support Trump (hoping to be the guy that picks up all of Trumps followers when he's done) for his next shot 4 years from now.
