In response to "I saw the episode where spoils" by Loyola

K, that's #2. Last night was #3.

#2 was kind of an homage to 'Drive' (Bryan Cranston's X-Files episode), I felt. Overall I liked it.

#3 is ... very different.

I think it's hard to call it formulaic after only two episodes, but the dialogue was excruciatingly awkward in #1, and there was a scene or two with that in #2. #3 didn't lean that way at all - in fact, it had one scene that basically railed against it.

Overall the reboot has played fast and loose with the legacy and tone of the X-Files, and I'm kind of thankful for that. It's refreshing, when it could so easily have gone the way of "Heroes".
