I gave myself a gift some years ago. I was always a finisher, esp. for books, since I was a kidlet.

I had read a few books in a shortish period of time that made me literally throw them across a room, they were so bad, writing so affected or annoying in other ways. what I'll do now if I find something feeling that way is skip ahead some, maybe a few chapters, maybe to the end - if there's more promise, I'll go back; but sometimes I can let 'em go. as K. says, life is too short for bad.
films aren't as common, as I usually choose those I'm pretty darned sure I'll enjoy; but I've done something almost as hard as books along the way, given up on tv shows I'd watched for a long time. sometimes, I'll go back for a few eps or the final ep. when they're going away; but, ahh, it is freeing to just stop.
