Everything about your current job situation definitely points to the need for job move (whether inside of outside of your company).
The question then is: is this the right job for you. A few considerations:
1. You don't seem to love your company. Is this a big deal (could it hurt your morale?) or a small issue
2. You say you would not be enamored with the job. Would you at least enjoy it some, or would you miserable? That can wear on you if you are unhappy.
3. 10 year job security certainly sounds nice, and being identified for the position suggests they believe in you, which is also nice.
4. The biggest factor, the location:
- Would you/could you be happy in the TN area (forgetting cost of living, would you be happy there? Would you like raising your son there?)
- Kelly's Mom could fly down easily, but would it be harder for you guys, as a family of three, to get back to RI because of flight cost? How often do you travel back now? Would you have to reduce that? If so, are you okay with that?
On the surface, it definitely sounds like a good offer, and money probably wouldn't be tight like it is now. But the three of you need to assess if you would be happy.
