In response to "Having moved across the country for a job (twice) - the problem Carrie and I had moving away from here was leaving family behind." by Jim

*nods* My family's move from NY to TX was mere necessity (Dad was losing his job) but in some ways, my family feels the impacts to this day.

My entire extended family, on both sides, with the exception of one or two outliers, lived within 1-2 hours drive of each other in the NY/NJ/CT/PA region. Moving to TX, where we knew nobody, ripped us away from that and put us 'on our own'.

Now Will and Kelly's situation is a bit different since they are already a bit of a hike of family, so it may be more manageable. And if cost of living is lower in TN, it may enable them to afford to get back more perhaps?
