Somewhat aside, a question for everyone: Does the politics and social atmosphere of the region play a factor when moving?

I mean, Tennessee is a red state. Furthermore, if you were a minority, that would probably weigh heavily. And if you're not "church going folk", that's likely to be a factor in some southern states. Can I make any other stereotypical generalizations?
