See I still disagree with you. They have a ton of fantastic songs that are absolutely built to last because they are still being played everyday.

They are on the radio, in commercials and in movies. Still. You can't be much more built to last than that. I'm not saying that there aren't songs there that remain simple and uncomplicated. But there's a reason that Wouldn't It Be Nice continually shows up in commercials and movies. And God Only Knows. And Good Vibrations. And Sloop John B. Do You Wanna Dance. The list goes on. I get that it doesn't reach you in that special way, but I think you're letting your own feelings about it cloud your view of the material's value as a whole. Wilson wouldn't be influential if the music wasn't built to last.
