I just looked up the amounts and I have to say I'm not horrified.

Someone from outside NYC probably will be horrified, but considering cost of living here and what one can make in the private sector here, the proposed new salaries are not obscene, I have to say.

(For those playing along at home: ("the raise the Council has proposed for itself: to $148,500 from a current base pay of $112,500, $10,185 more than the advisory panel recommended.")

- $100k to $150k in NYC isn't a ridiculous salary. If they want to keep good people and not lose them to the private sector they need to pay them well. - Krusty Feb 4, 06:52

- Right. The salaries aren't obscene at all but it's that they decide and vote on their own raise where I take issue. -- nm - Krusty Feb 4, 06:38
