I'm not sure I understand how to judge the best screenplay. I feel like I would just end up voting how I did for the best picture.

But I know that a good script can be poorly translated to film with bad acting or bad directing and the same can happen the other way with a bad screenplay being turned into a good film with good actors and directors. I just don't know how I'm so supposed to judge whether it was a good screenplay or not.

        I tend to focus on things like is there something new to the story or how it's told assuming that's more likely to come from the writer. -- nm - Dano Feb 13, 10:09
