I don't really think he'll be a lunatic, but I think he'll make a bunch of bad decisions and policies.

Even if he's not going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it, his messages are all about protectionism, mercantilism, brinksmanship, etc. He's not going to double-back on that, because that's how he got successful in the first place.
And it's not going to solve the problems America has - income inequality, spending too much on healthcare, weak economic growth that only looks good compared to everyone else, etc. He sees an entirely different set of problems as being more important - for example, America looks weak because it doesn't always get what it wants, America faces external threats, America shouldn't have so many immigrants, etc
