Giving him a permanent voice on abortion and campaign funding law? That's almost like a permanent Obama presidency.

They're not going to get Obamacare repealed any more easily under that scenario. And taking him out of office might give the GOP what they want with short term vision, but all that would do is douse the fires in their bellies and lead to less turnout which gives the Democrats a better chance at winning the White House. So then you have Hillary + Obama.
No way would McConnell go for that.
