emotional on their own to elicit a response. kids dying, an animal dying, someone dealing with sexual assault... a lot of it is cheap. It has nothing to do with advance film making techniques and all about perfecting making you feel a certain way with minimal effort.
We Need to Talk About Kevin isn't really a scary movie, it's just deeply depressing... not a great example for a horror film.
Also, Antichrist was hilarious.
