In response to "Why are you losing your bus pass?" by iSpam

I actually think I'm pretty okay. would you like to know more?

sure it's great that I get a $5 per month bus pass. and yes, I would be willing to pay $10 per month for it. but the fact of the matter is that I *use* my bus pass about eight times per month in winter and maybe five times per month in spring/summer/fall. if I buy tokens ($34 for 20) and don't change my riding habits, I'm at $122.40 for the year, which is what my bus pass *would* cost if I could still have it in 1617*. if I try to change a few things, I can probs get my nonwinter number down to twice a month, which would be even better.

I love having my pass because of the freedom it offers me (example: rather than going home to get my car to go get a haircut, I could take the bus if I wanted, which saved me 45 minutes in commuting time) but if the university would rather me *not* be at my desk for those 45 minutes, that's their deal.

*bus pass is pretax. tokens are post-tax. we are not *exactly* comparing apples to apples here, but with numbers so small, I think it might be immaterial.
