It's part of what makes her realize that no one can understand what she's been through and that she's alone, and leads to her suicide attempt.
In a fairy tale version, her father should have been happy that his daughter is back in his life, but instead he can't get over that she had this child with her captor and loves him, and he walks out and flies back home. Is he even going to be part of her life?
