I think I may taken the "I'm here for the opening acts" sentiment from festivals too far.

I guess one advantage of going to shows alone is that if you don't like the act/music/crowd...leave
I was at The Echo and loved La Sera who I found entertaining and swoony as usual.
DIIV as the headliner...I learned that's pronounced dive.
To me they kind of sound like a synthless New Order but I just didn't get it. I gave them three songs and while they're good at what they do...just not my style
And then their fans upfront 1) had a mosh pit going during the first song 2) were crowd surfing during the third song
Good for the fans to have fun but....just didn't seem to fit the music IMO.
At least it was generally close and I feel I still got ticket value for seeing Katie (lead of La Sera) again
