It was a 'concert' version and their big selling point was a full onstage orchestra. This is a small theater and just not built for a full trumpet line, the vocals were frequently overwhelmed.
I was feeling guilty about placing it last in all the shows I'd seen there until I spoke with a friend today and she had exactly the same opinion. Do the producers never sit in the audience for a performance? It's really hard to enjoy a show when your ears are bleeding :(
