the fact that we, the viewers, KNOW that she'll regret not going back to Brooklyn for the rest of her life is what makes the whole third act work so well. it shows her life in Belfast just enticing enough that she could easily slip back into her old self and it would be a choice that real people might make 50% of the time in life, even while you want to shake her and tell her to get the hell out of there.
