In response to "time travel poll: you have one shot to go back and change history. do you: (a) kill Hitler; (b) save JFK in Dallas; or (c) stop the 9/11 hijackers -- nm" by sweet baboo

Do you do this for the sake of doing it, or for addressing the consequences?

Hitler changed the world and led to the rise of America as a world power. No Hitler, no America as a world power. But at what cost? Millions died.

JFK? Maybe. LBJ did plenty after JFK. I don't see much benefit to saving JFK other than you've saved a man's life.

The consequences of 9/11 have been horrible. Extremism has only risen since, and our liberties have been destroyed. Not only would you save hundreds of people, you'd produce a less bleak 21st century.

But, truly, if I had to change something in recent history, I'd change the outcome of Bush v. Gore.
