I don't want an actual time machine. I want a time dvr (holodeck) that allows me to see anywhere at any time and rewind/ffwd.

I don't want to have to deal with cash and food and shelter and poor hygiene in another era for the same reason I'd rather watch the Super Bowl from the comfort of my home instead of in the stands.
I just want to watch the pyramids being built and monitor the Roanoke colony and figure out why Basque is a language isolate.
