Ignoring trolls makes them troll harder, and if Hillary's going to have a mandate in office, she can't just win by the default of not-Trump.

Plus the dynamics are different in a general election.
Trump's strategy worked when it's a choice between ten people. It's going to be less successful where there are two choices, and a whole lot of people are never going to vote for him.
Hillary's biggest strength is that she's a workhorse, and a lot of people are going to trust her when she says she's going to be working on their behalf. When she's negative, it reminds everyone of the things they don't like about her. She has to sell her message of how she is going to help. Trump has a message (regardless of whether it's believable), so she needs one too.
Finally, Hillary is going to have plenty of proxies talking about Trump, so leave it to them.
