Because every time he has made a mistake and been criticized for it that criticism has been greated with the "sour grapes" deflection.

Plus, you did say (to paraphrase) "he'll eventually make a mistake...." which would imply that he hasn't thus far.
This isn't even an argument over the dog but seemingly what's worthy of criticism. And thus far, the general attitude of the Obama supporters seems to be that nothing has been valid criticism of him.
