The library worker may have a little more knowledge about the group of kids that is coming through. Yes, perhaps she could've been more tactful and said something along the lines of "Just so you know, you are more than welcome to continue feeding but there is likely to be a group of boys coming through which may make you uncomfortable. Might. Might not. Just wanted to give you a heads up."
Once the patron made it clear that it wouldn't make her uncomfortable, that should've been it. She could've said "I've never had a problem with any adolescents" and it would've probably helped out the worker. Instead they both escalated things.
I'm sure if I was the worker, and I knew a group was going to come through and potentially make a patron uncomfortable, I didn't say anything about it and then it happened, I'd feel terrible.
