I think this sounds like a great idea, but, my best friend's dad got married when she was 16 without her and her siblings there and it bothered them

to the day he died. They had a great relationship with him eventually, but they felt he had left them out of an important part of his life. They did hate their stepmother and this didn't help. They always blamed her. She is a bitch though so they were probably right.
