I always assumed that a doctor couldn't prescribe to themselves, but don't know the law.

Perhaps within limited amounts they can?
Responses:
Sure, they could. But if, say, a dentist prescribed birth control for their wife/daughter (which has happened), we wouldn't fill it. -- nm

There are limits I presume? Like if a doctor is prescribing him/herself a round of oxy once a week?

i never needed birth control (obvs) but my dad called in scripts for me on an as-needed basis lots of times -- nm
