1.) Batman in action. The trailer gave us the only non-Superman battle fight scene that was in the movie. Unfortunately, it was a fight from the last third of the movie, so we knew it was coming while watching. And as we are watching, we see that the kidnapped Martha is in that location. And this, is before we even have the Batman v Superman fight so we know the entire time that Batman will be the one to save Martha. That ruins so much of the story flow as to be unforgivable.

2. Batman in dreams. So, Batman dreams of fighting Superman on Earth that has been taken over by Darkseid, complete with huge Omega symbol, firepits and parademons. I adore Batman but one thing he is not is a psychic that has premonitions. At the end of the movie, we get confirmation via Lex that Darkseid is coming. So obviously, Zack wanted to have some foreshadowing but this was just too much.

After seeing it the second time, a series of other complaints I had seemed rather minor so that is fine. Among others, they were.

A. I was annoyed that Lois conveniently had a random photog with her in the desert. I figured Man of Steel had a Jimmy Olson but after checking imdb I learned that no, it did not. So that is just another Zack fail overall.

B. Upon first viewing, I thought Doomsday was the result of the mix of Lex DNA with Zod's. Second viewing I realize that Lex was just added for spice, but did not really change things and as the original Doomsday was a Kyrptonian invention, it makes sense that Lex would have found it in the data banks. So that error was on me.

C. First viewing, "Why did you say that name?" seemed so flimsy as the fight ender. But on the second viewing, I see how it works.

D. Shaun echoed my own confusion on Batman's power levels. But Remlik hit it when he said that it echoes those in the video games. And he is right.

E. And a piece that changed how I saw the entire movie was, last night when I was going to sleep it hot me that Lex knew both their identities from the very beginning of the movie.

That last bit has me considering moving it up to a B movie instead of B- as it makes a lot more sense, now. But 1&2 are still a problem, and the pacing of the movie at times was just a mess.

Zack tried to be Joss and take things directly form the comics, but shoehorning them into such a different story is still a fail. The reason The Dark Knight Returns battle works is that Bruce and Clark have known each other for decades and Clark has sold out the heroes. Bruce goes in wanting/needing to take Clark down a peg or two (plus it gave him the opportunity to fake his own death). To battle like that as a beginning just rings false.
