That's the revisionist history. The reality is that he was a first team All-American in college.

There were three TEs that year with first round grades after the season. Marcedes Lewis was one and I think Dominique Byrd was the other. Davis had the best college stats of the three in addition to being a weight room marvel. He's a blueprint example that the perfect prospect can still break your heart.
