We've stayed at the Sheraton the past couple of years. I stayed at the Hilton right nearby the Sheraton several times for work. -- (edited)

Both are perfectly fine high rise hotels downtown. The hotels are also both situated in between two main areas that house many/most of the theatre venus: Tiff Bell Lightbox, Scotiabank, Princess of Wales, Roy Thompson to the west. Winter Garden, Elgin, Ryerson to the east. With the exception of Ryerson (probably a 20-25 minute walk) you can get to these venues in all under 10-12 minutes walking from the area those hotels are in (and there are other hotels in that are too). Plus lots of restaurants/convenient stores around the downtown core.
