Glenn gets the bat in the comic book but I don't know if they go this route since there were a lot of people that were angered by the loss.
In the comic book Rick has already lost his hand by now and the writer regretted doing it so that was left out of the tv show. Killing Glenn could be the same with a change of plan and he gets to live.
Glenn would be a tough loss and people will be upset but I think it still makes sense. He's expendable and adds a lot of drama leaving his baby mama behind.
