armies sometimes don't know where the enemy is until the very last moments.
It wouldn't surprise me in the event of civilization collapsing that groups wouldn't know of each other and especially their details until meeting up like this.
I'm getting tired of TWD, however, writing for the scene again, forcing characters to do dumb things just so a particular scene or event can take place.
