I like centerfield for softball. Being able to run and be moving based on the pitch and hitter's timing before he's hit...

If we get 4 outfielders, I play short-field and like to be moving before the ball is hit.
Stop of a lot of that nickel and dime bullshit.
Responses:
And with our fields, you couldn't pay me to play SS/3B in slo-pitch.

I like pitching but I took one off the bill of my cap once, which was a tad startling -- nm

a teammate took a line drive off the face, the sound was nightmare inducing.

So far playing SS and 3B I broke my hand and sprained a finger

I loved it in real baseball. In 25 years of playing, I think I only took one off the chest once. nm -- nm

I read something from Ripken, saying after 14 years at SS, he'd never had a ball hit him in the cup. Then back to 3B, it would routinely happen.

sure, those cup shots don't hurt that bad, and most of the time you pick it up and still can get the out.

We've been lucky in the bats we are forced to use aren't those rocket-bats, but even still...

If I ever got stuck playing 3B for softball, my feet would be in the grass, I would be playing that deep.

My dad played in our league at 55yrs old. Third base, even or inside the bag. All dirt infield.

I'd rather give myself a little extra time to be able to make that decision.

I played 3B when former major leaguer Wes Chamberlain was batting.

And that's why I play on the grass for righties. I'd rather give up an infield single than needing to make a 0.5s decision when I have 0.46s.

towards the end of my playing, when they eliminated Aluminum bats, it was like slow motion.
