i don't know of any restrictions off the top of my head that would keep an inmate from inheriting property, assuming it wasn't ill-gotten to begin

with
there are Son of Sam type laws that prevent convicts from profiting from their own crimes but that wouldn't seem to be implicated by a third-party will or trust
they could just appoint a person they trust on the outside with a power of attorney to manage the property until the inmate is released
