oh, for that, for me, it depends on the house. some people actually want that/let it be known, others depends on who/what's going on/etc. -- nm

some people's houses, never barefoot, because ick.
if I'm wearing socks (rare), that may increase the odds of shoe removal, because the shoes I wear them with can be somewhat risky with carpet walking; but I'll always ask if there's a question of it being ok.
