i tend to throw all my veggie scraps into a plastic bag in the freezer to collect them. -- (edited)

just untwist the bag and add.
then, occasionally, i simmer all the veggies in a big pot of water, strain, and refreeze in big freezer bags.
basically free.
i don't season until i cook with it so i can add whatever flavours make sense at that time.
