Yes, the show is a lot about people that try and get up and they tend to get knocked right back down (or eaten). It is a lot about people that try to do something "good" and pay a high price for it. That is a part of what it has been all along.

As for 30 minutes vs 90 minutes, they could have told us in 30 but instead they showed us in 90. Of all the episodes of this season, this is the one I am most likely to rewatch multiple times.
