The whole system is one price. You get on and you can go as far as you want and take as many trains as you want for one fee.

There was no transfer to the buses like there is now with the Metrocard. You would have to pay again to get on a bus if you lived where you needed to take a bus to the train. There are a few neighborhoods where the trains don't go.
