I think it's just a question of micro v. macro view. On the micro side is the view that you want to pick who represents your views best. The macro

view looks at the bigger picture. What is my vote accomplishing. If my "perfect world" choice cannot win am I undermining the value of my second choice who still has another fight to go. Early in the primary season the micro vote makes absolute sense because the macro view isn't clear. At this point it's different. I don't fault someone for taking the micro view, but be careful what you wish for. I am a big believer in the "perfect is the enemy of the good". You don't want to win the battle and lose the war. Give me a minute and I'll come up with some more clichés.
