I used to work with someone like this (just last year). She was always telling me to go home early.

She'd do it in an effort to seem 'chummy'. But what she was really doing was looking for leverage - she always rolled in late and was never at her desk because she was shopping/smoking. She wanted to make it seem like what she was doing was normal by trying to recruit me into that sort of behavior.
I used to just remind her that I didn't work for her or report to her and that I was aware of my working hours and when I was expected to be in the office.
