i don't have time to read all the bagel shenanigans, but the truth is bagels are just cream cheese vehicles. i don't care if it's chewy, bready toasted, whatever. -- (edited)

honestly, just slather some cream cheese on a hamburger bun, tear a ragged hole in the middle, and that's bagel enough for me.
