YDC: The closest theater to me in DC (14 screen) is switching to all reserved/recliner seating.

There goes being able to see something spur of the moment, although I do love those seats.
Responses:
There's now a few in the area, some additional thoughts.

if you wear bifocals and fully recline, the screen is out of focus. I have a pair of single vision I use at reclining theatres. -- nm

Reserved seating is all I go to anymore, I would love if my entire theatre switched -- nm

Is it much more expensive than a regular theater? -- nm

Depends on the theater. One here is the same basically, one is $2 or so more. -- nm

Thanks all! I figured it would be between $5-10 more than a regular theater. -- nm

My friend introduced me to a theater like this that's a half hour or so from my house; it's considerably less expensive than the local theater.

We do not have them here. Do you get to select your seats when you purchase them? -- nm

Yes, so we always pick the same seats. No one behind us or beside us -- nm

Hmm. I still would not like it that much. Loud people in front of you would mean you could not move. -- nm

One of the benefits is that the size of the chairs means you're much further away from other people, and the seats almost deaden the sound.

I wondered if it might be like the old days of concerts when they just gave you what they deemed best available, which would suck. -- nm
