If we assume she is coming from a place of ignorance (like no one has ever bothered to explain to her how to talk about these issues) ...

I think what she is saying -- though very awkwardly -- is: "I do not believe homosexuality is an ethical or moral state of being."
She is confusing a set of opinions with a state of being. I'm assuming that she is doing so because no on has yet pointed out that being gay, lesbian, bi, straight, asexual, or whatever else falls under the spectrum of sexual orientation has nothing to do with a person's views and opinions of the world.
