It's the usual ST kerfuffle that arises completely out of the blue. A side-effect of limited communication.

And I'll admit that's why I harp on (or get harpy-ish) about choice of words here. There is no non-verbal communication here -- no tone or inflection, no facial expression, no body language -- so it's sometimes impossible to tell if someone is being serious or not.
Plus, I tend to get very defensive, and overly responsive, when I perceive people like many of my family and friends -- and some close friends -- being attacked for ignorant mistakes.
We forget that a lot of well-meaning people out there don't really mean us harm, or aren't being intentionally provocative, when they speak awkwardly. They just don't know any better.
