I'm reading her words as presented. The only assumption is her reliance on religion being the basis for disagreement.

You're asking a person to forgo their religion (even when they get there in the end). That's not feasible to anyone with a proper religious outlook.

This woman gets, in the same paragraph, to the end where hetero and homosexuals are at heart, decent people deserving of respect, past those differences.

If we can't get acknowledge that her larger message is one that is positive, without impugning her intent based on a trigger-word, then there's limited hope overall.
