So we have the FBI paying a hacker group to do something that would otherwise be a crime, and I assume -- (edited)

didn't bother asking for the method in order to inform Apple, so now some hacker group has been given money and incentive to exploit a security flaw and potentially no incentive to inform the owners of the software.
Nice job, FBI.
