I think 3 months prior to the first vote anywhere being cast is a bit long of a wait...but the rules are the rules

I don't get why 6 months in advance is their choice; as that's a very long time in the course of a campaign cycle.
hell, that means a person had to register more than a year prior to the actual election, or in the case of a House election, more than half a term out.
